About this mentorship
About this mentorship
INTENSIVE PROGRAMME: ART FUNDAMENTALS
You’ve watched thousands of videos about how to draw on social media, or perhaps you’ve taken several courses, but whenever you sit down to draw, you don’t know where to start, you feel frustrated, or what you produce doesn’t look like what you had in mind.
That cycle is more common than you might imagine. You consume content, think you understand it, yet your drawing or skill level stays exactly where it is.
That isn’t a lack of talent. There has never been as much information about drawing as there is today, so it isn’t a lack of information either. What you need is someone to guide you, tell you what to study and how to study, and above all, point out what you’re doing wrong while you’re doing it.
This programme exists to break that cycle.
What does a week at IronBrush look like?
We connect on Discord for classes. Two hours. In each live class, the mentor explains the key fundamentals, with exercises tailored to your level. They draw as they explain, so you can see why they make each decision and ask questions in the moment.
After each class, you’ll take away exercises to practise during the week. In the next class, you’ll receive direct feedback on your work and see feedback given to your classmates too: each week, you learn from your own mistakes and from other people’s.
That’s when something happens that never happens in a tutorial: someone who has already made the journey looks at your work and tells you what is holding back your progress. Specific corrections, not just “looks good, keep practising”.
What will you achieve?
We won’t promise you a portfolio in a month. Nobody becomes a professional in a month, and anyone who promises you that is lying.
What does change, and what we see in class every week, is this:
You’ll learn to look at your own work and understand why it falls short and how to improve it.
You’ll learn how to study in a way that really makes sense.
You’ll finish your pieces and sketches with specific feedback.
And even if you have little time, you’ll know exactly what to do in your next drawing session.
Who is this class for?
If you’re passionate about art but have never dared to get started properly. If you’ve been drawing for years and feel you’re still in the same place. If you’ve bought courses, watched them and never finished any. If you want to make a living from this and don’t know how.
The only thing we ask is that you draw a little every week. If you can’t commit to that, this class isn’t for you.
If what you’ve read resonates with you but you’re still unsure, you can start with the free trial class: a real live class, with feedback on your work, so you can decide whether this class is right for you!
We look forward to seeing you!

What do our students say?
What do our students say?
Franco Vaca
Freelance Illustrator
“The course is excellent, both in its practical and theoretical aspects. It helped me become more disciplined and get on track toward my goals. The classes are very engaging, and the knowledge shared always helps you keep moving forward. You feel supported at every stage of the process of becoming a better artist.”

Matias Solares
Architect / 3D Artist
“I joined the Academy not only to learn to draw, but also to deepen my understanding of the fundamentals of art and apply them to my professional work. I began to see results quickly. I was impressed by the quality of the classes: they are engaging and in-depth, both technically and practically. The concepts are presented comprehensively and taught exceptionally well.”

Agus Cazón
Freelance Illustrator
“I joined IronBrush Academy last year and have seen tremendous growth in my work, not only technically but also in how I approach new challenges. I took Sol’s Stylization Basics class, and both she and Johnny are excellent mentors. They taught me and encouraged me to design and create illustrations and portfolio pieces I once thought were beyond me.”

Sergio Ponce
Student
Classes with John are incredibly instructive and offer ideal support for any artist who truly wants to improve and master the fundamentals. I recommend them wholeheartedly because they help you see art from a much deeper perspective and connect you with the habits followed by industry professionals.

Rodrigo Olivera
Junior Illustrator
“Since I joined, I have seen steady growth, and my motivation and understanding of what it means to work professionally have increased a lot. What stood out most was the emphasis not only on fundamentals and studying them methodically and in depth, but also on the emotional and mental side of being an artist, something that is often completely overlooked.”

Carola Burgueño
Tattoo Artist
“I learned the true importance of study, observation, and discipline. I learned to value my craft and art for what they are: a matter of commitment and hard work. The human side matters too; there was always room to build a community and keep practising outside class. Simply, thank you 🙏”

Juan Novelletto
Senior Character Artist at Sony Santa Monica
“John and his academy have an exceptional ability to share knowledge! What I learned still resonates with me years later, and I can apply it every day as a Character Artist in the AAA video game industry. Without a doubt, it marked a turning point in my career as a professional artist!”

Matias Dellio
Freelance Illustrator
Thanks to the academy, I finally learned how to draw correctly. It helped me find techniques and processes that other places don’t tell you about or only explain halfway. The class atmosphere is great; you meet many professional and amateur artists who encourage and motivate you to keep improving. The instructors are wonderful, very helpful, and always willing to answer any questions you have.

Carola Burgueño
Tattoo Artist
“My real growth began when I discovered IronBrush and Jon’s classes. I had studied at other workshops, but none placed as much emphasis on fundamentals and discipline as they do here.”

Lucas Busto
Manga Artist
“What I liked about IronBrush is that the instructors don’t overlook your goals. They give each student individual attention, even when a class has several students. Learning the fundamentals while also building your motivation is something you don’t find easily. The instructors also have the flexibility to show you both your strengths and mistakes without ever making you feel uncomfortable about it.”

Sergio Ponce
Student
These classes mark a before and after in a student’s life. Iron Brush is undoubtedly one of the best academic options in Latin America.

Martín Percivale
Freelance Illustrator
“For me, the fundamentals classes were the most valuable because they gave me insight into the concepts and origins of the artistic direction I wanted to pursue. I learned about the great masters and technical concepts I had never encountered before. The one-to-one feedback greatly accelerated my learning and helped me identify mistakes I used to overlook, improving my accuracy and confidence in my work.”

Agus Cazón
Freelance Illustrator
“The instructors regularly share useful advice about the industry and professional life. I also really value the academy’s focus on consistency and building good habits; it’s one of the things that sets it apart.”

Julian De Cabo
Freelance Comic Artist
“My experience at the academy was transformative. I learned the fundamentals of drawing and painting in depth, covering the human figure, vehicles, landscapes, and animals. That variety gave me a solid foundation for pursuing illustration and comics. I’m grateful for every lesson and challenge that fuelled my passion for art.”

Dylan Ramirez
Junior Character Artist
“Throughout my journey toward becoming a professional artist, I had never improved my artistic skills as much as I did at the academy. The academy’s environment is exceptional: you’re supported as an artist, your questions are answered, and you’re helped to stay focused on your path.”

Bruno Gamarra
Freelance Illustrator
“One of the most valuable things I learned at the academy was how to study a specific subject in depth and effectively. Breaking a process down and making it my own helped me develop a personalised study method and build good habits in my art practice. This detailed approach improved my skills and taught me the importance of discipline and perseverance on the path to becoming an artist.”
